Brittany Ferries Freight have announced their plans to significantly increase both the frequency and capacity of their Portsmouth/Santander service through the introduction of a new vessel to their fleet. The 33,000 tonnes vessel, yet to be named, will offer a minimum capacity of 85 trucks. Her service speed of 28 knots will enable her to complete the crossing in 24 hours, with comfort. Upon entering service in Spring 2010, Brittany Ferries will operate 5 weekly departures split between the south coast ports of Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth to Santander in Northern Spain and there will also be 2 - 3 weekly departures operated by P&O Ferries between Portsmouth & Bilbao. All of these routes are a great solution to avoid the weekend and bank holiday driving bans in France.
